{"id":1382,"date":"2026-05-25T23:07:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T22:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmstyle.co.uk\/demo\/?p=1382"},"modified":"2026-05-28T21:24:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T20:24:55","slug":"latest-news-may-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmstyle.co.uk\/demo\/latest-news-may-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest News May 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026 Village Hall AGM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s AGM will take place on <strong>Monday 11<sup>th<\/sup> May starting at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.<\/strong>\u00a0 This is <strong>your <\/strong>chance to have <strong>your<\/strong> say about the running of <strong>your <\/strong>Village Hall.\u00a0 Everyone will be made very welcome.\u00a0 At the AGM villagers will be informed of a proposal from the Village Hall Management Committee for the Village Hall to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).\u00a0 All information to support this change will be given.\u00a0 At the end of the discussion a vote will be taken which will hopefully give the authority for the Management Committee to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our Village Hall is 100!!!!!<\/strong> Our lovely Village Hall celebrates 100 years of being used by Newton Solney villagers this year. We would like to mark this with a party; any suggestions please get in touch. If anyone has any photos of events at the village hall over the past few decades we would love to share them as part of the celebration. Could we please share either by email or by photocopies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Newton Solney Horticultural Society<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The next event is the <strong>Annual Plant Sale<\/strong> which will be held in the Village Hall on <strong>Saturday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> May commencing at 10am.<\/strong>\u00a0 As always there will be a good variety of plants for sale at competitive prices, along with refreshments and a raffle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging for the Best Front Garden and Hanging Basket\/Planter competition will take place sometime in July.\u00a0 Further details to follow but it\u2019s never too early to start planning.\u00a0 The <strong>Annual Village Show<\/strong> will be held on <strong>Saturday 22<sup>nd<\/sup> August.<\/strong>\u00a0 Preparations are well under way and show schedules will be distributed in early July.\u00a0 A few new people have volunteered to help on the day or be stewards but additional help is always welcome.\u00a0 Please contract Andy Archer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Newton Solney Community Party \u2013 Saturday 18<sup>th<\/sup> April<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A big thank you to everyone who attended last month&#8217;s Community Party which was a great success.&nbsp; Also, another big thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to set the hall up, provided refreshments, manned the various tables informing villagers about the wonderful groups that use the Village Hall, supervised the games and to everyone who contributed in any way to make the day such a fun and informative event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Newton Solney Women\u2019s Institute \u2013 April 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The next meeting of the Women\u2019s Institute will be on <strong>Tuesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> May<\/strong> starting at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.\u00a0 We have many activities and speakers for our meetings over the coming months including Tai Chi, a bowls session, The story of Two Crosses by Tim Coltman, just to name a few.\u00a0 We continue to look at new and exciting opportunities for our members, and we are open to any suggestions.\u00a0 Our age range is currently 40 upwards, however, we would be very pleased to see women of any age as we do endeavour to make sure there is something for everyone.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in becoming a member please contact our <strong>President, Vicki Oldknow \u2013 Tel 07980 988958<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>St. Mary\u2019s Tuesday Lunch Club<\/strong> We all enjoyed our afternoon tea in the Church in April, due to the road closures, but we are back to our usual routine this month. We are meeting in the <strong>Village Hall on Tuesday May 5<sup>th<\/sup> at 1pm. <\/strong>Now that the warmer weather has arrived, we shall be serving a Ploughman\u2019s \/ Salad lunch followed by a choice of desserts and tea\/coffee. We joined the Church Lunch group for an Afternoon Tea followed by an Easter Game of filling in the facial features of an Easter Bunny. There were prizes for the successful participants of small Easter Eggs for that quickest person to compete all the features by dice numbers, starting with a 6.\u00a0 We played several games which was fun, mixed with a little bit of competitive but friendly rivalry.\u00a0 The refreshments provided were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed.
